Karate : Suitable for everyone

Karate training is suitable for everyone and for all ages. From (small) children to seniors and everything in between. One can consider Karate as a/an Art/Excercise/Sport/Self-Defence.

The motivation to train karate therefore varies widely.

• Children

The educational value is important to children, with fun, resilience (coping with bullying) and dealing with peers as important motivations.

• Youth

Developing self-confidence, self-image and their own identity is of great value to young people and adolescents. Competition is increasing and the ability to compete with others is an important motivation.

• Adults / seniors

For seniors, the formative value, personal development, come more to the fore. In addition, the health value (physical and mental), the social value, mental and physical resilience and of course also the satisfaction and pleasure that arises during movement and training can be an important motivation for each target group.

Behavioral problems
In addition, it often happens that karate-do teachers have to deal with children with social-emotional problems and / or behavioral problems. The educational properties in combination with the clear structure make karate-do extremely suitable for this target group. We have to make sure that karate-do is not a form of therapy that can solve all flaws. In many cases, specialist help remains necessary and / or desirable. It is clear that karate-do can make a positive contribution to the development process.

We must remember that it's better to learn something than nothing.
